Fundementally, maildrop is the same as whatever local delivery agent you do use, you're starting to talk around in circles now. Could you please post information such as: 1) WHat delivery agent you do use 2) Logs showing an offending message being recieved 3) Logs showing that offending message being bounced There is no reason why a local delivery agent will alter how the MTA treats messages in relation to being bounced or deferred. Either its being deferred as it being suggested by two other people and you're missing it in the logs, or it is behaving differently for you from the posted logs.
