Try switching it off (extend TCPDOPTS by -noidentlookup). To get valuable assistance, please use - correct host names. If your server shall be on the internet, please use internet hostnames. Neither "domain" nor "dc" is a FQDN and therefore should not be used in the internet. "hostname -f" should give you a full host name, containing the name of the machine and the domain it lives in. If that's not the case, you should configure your machine's hostname according to your operating system's docs. - ESMTP. If Courier complains about an ESMTP command error, this may be true. - as much from the default configuration as possible. If everything works, customize bit by bit and you could keep in mind what worked and what did not.
