IMHO, this setting ought to be the default for Courier. Ident service was useful back in the days of Unix to Unix communication but it's a rather outmoded service, not really needed, used or supported much outside of IRC these days. It's easily spoofed, and so is rather useless for security, and when I see it used it generally causes more problems than it solves. It's rather a misfit in the current architecture and best practices of the Internet. -- Lindsay Haisley | "In an open world, | PGP public key FMP Computer Services | who needs Windows | available at 512-259-1190 | or Gates" | http://pubkeys.fmp.com http://www.fmp.com | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ courier-users mailing list [email protected] Unsubscribe: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/courier-users
