Courier does the same thing with the hyphen "-". If a message arrives for "[email protected]", courier will check for an exact match, and if none exists it will strip the last hyphen and anything after it and check again. So in this case that would be "[email protected]". If that address exists, the message will be delivered to that address. You can control deliver based on the extension using .courier files. In the above case, if the file ".courier-foo" existed in the account's HOME directory, that would specify delivery instructions for the "user-foo".
