Thank you for your reply! The important point was: "or that existed before the very first login to a new POP3 mailbox account" You are right, every new e-mail since the first pop3login is fine, that was not covered in my scenario. But: There are mailboxes, that always used imap (only) and contain quite a few messages. Now this very special e-mail client that only understands the new format needs to get messages from that account aswell (by POP3). Is there a way to convert all UIDLs to the new format ? One very very ugly way to do this, is to log in with pop3 (for the first time) ... and then rename the files in the Maildir and log in again. But this can't be it. And: For new (empty) mailboxes for instance i will have to log in with pop3 immediately after creation to make sure the new UIDL format is used and the Mailbox is future-safe for strange these kind of strange e-mail clients. It is a bit strange for my situation that this "that (the message) existed before the very first login to a new POP3 mailbox account" rule seems to be on top of all. Since every mail client seems to handle this well, except for the one I am bound to use I can understand that there might be no action necessary.
If there is a way to convert the UIDLs to the new format Id really appreciate it. Thank you for the great support!
