Hi all, May be my question is very evident but I have been confused. What exaclty an MUA is? What about MDA? What should I consider an IMAP/POP3 Server? Is an IMAP Server or POP3 Server an MDA or MUA? Till now, I've been considering the IMAP/POP3 server as a part of MUA. But I have found some contradicts and like to become clear.

The acronyms stand for mail delivery agent, and mail user agent. An MDA is generally the last distinct component that delivers a message to a mailbox, such as maildrop. Or procmail. An MUA is just a fancy name for a mail client -- anything that reads mail. An IMAP or a POP3 server is not a MUA.
