As far as the IP goes, I just go back in my log and look at the time.
The first entry of the imapd-ssl series should have the IP, i.e.

Feb 14 08:18:35 <host> imapd-ssl: LOGIN, user=<user>, ip=[::ffff:<IP>], 
protocol=IMAP

By the way, my client was Thunderbird 3.x.
