I've set MAXDELS to 100 and I expect Courier to deliver to 100 servers simultaneously. But I cannot reach it.
Unless you're pumping mail out through a really fat, multi-gigabit pipe, five emails per second delivery is a very respectable rate, given SMTP's built-in horrible latency. The performance you're getting is quite decent, actually.
