But we're in Montevideo, Uruguay. We located the office in one of the
more expensive parts of the city, it's a block from the rambla and
beach. If we'd put it downtown where most offices are, we'd have
better lunch selection, longer commutes, and cheaper rent.

We're planning on getting individual desks which can be pushed
together, but right now everybody's working from big tables in the
center of the room.

As i said above, we spent a lot of time thinking about how long it
takes people to get to the space, and what's around it. In the end
we're farther from some bus lines than people would like. I think you
have to remember coworking space is competing with *free* home office
and *cheap* cafes. Convenience matters a lot. I know when i was in San
Francisco it was a lot easier to get to citizenspace than the hat
factory.

Cowork Central in Buenos Aires has a nice office, but they are in a
building which closes at 8pm. So everybody has to be out by then. For
us being able to work late was really important.

We spent a lot of time trying to find a place which was accessible by
public transportation and was walking distance to where many of us
live. We also wanted a place with it's own door to the street, so when
guests showed up it was pretty easy to find us. One thing which made
things trickier was we were looking for a space to host working, but
also to hold talks and small events, potentially even a bar camp in
the future. So we saw it as both a community organizing effort and
looking for an office.

We spent a lot of time thinking about security, even though most
people have laptops, the space still will have a lot of valuable
equipment. So we have a place which has bars on all the windows. It
sucks, but it's better than having shit stolen.
