I've shared this with a few people recently, some quick pointers for new spaces looking to get members:
+ If possible, build community as much as you can before leasing a space. The more momentum you have when you start, the better. + The first person who shows up to your first coworking event is your most important person ever. Get to know them and why they showed up and what they care about in life. + Empower that person and every subsequent person who shows up to help you develop the community. The more they're a part of building the group, the more they will feel like it's partly theirs and the more fierce an advocate they will be. + Be open and honest. Share the problems and challenges with people who care enough to help. It's one of the best ways to do the above. + Give give give. Build your social capital in your local community, however appropriate. + Be patient. Building a community can take a long time. All the more reason to build it up before getting space when possible :-) Cheers, Tony --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Work City - Work happy.
