Hey all!
This has been an insane day in an already insane week; we've gotten a ton of
responses from both the WSJ and NPR articles. There was a lot of random
scammy/spammy stuff ("buy my teleconferencing package!"), but a lot of legit
potential members too and already some dropins. In general, my experience agrees with the above points. Our most long-lasting and well-integrated members almost always come from word of mouth, but getting mainstream press goes a long way in raising overall awareness of the movement and this whole world. There's still a huge awareness gap to close... I constantly encounter people who would be perfect for coworking who simply never heard of any of it before. Once momentum picks up, the press piles onto itself. We got two calls from other media outlets today, both of which heard the NPR story and followed up. This, by the way, is all without a PR agency. Hard work and building social capital building FTW!
