Both "Independence Day" (July 4) and "Labor Day" (Sept 6) have connotations that we could play off of for a worldwide recognition of the CoWorking movement. My only concern would be that these are both US holidays. Are there any other days of global relevance?
Once a day has been targeted, it would be exciting to promote this as a global "cowork day", with open houses at current CoWork facilities and perhaps Jelly-like congregations of interested individuals in communities that do not YET have a local CoWork facility. There are interesting strategic partnership ideas that we could explore to bring more credibility/impact to the movement. For example, we could approach a company like Starbuck's and have them provide a promotion on that given day and open their doors to the informal gatherings. I've also been working with a large furniture company and a large IT company both of whom are interested in the movement and might be compelled to lend support to such an event-day, as means to put a toe in the water and establish relationships with all of us operators.
