Hey Brian! I messaged Foursquare and they were VERY helpful with getting me set up with claiming our space here in St. Louis! For anyone else who is still having difficulty claiming their space, just submit a new support ticket through their site, they were very prompt with me!
We have a free drop-in day after 2 checkins special up where even when folks check in for our events they can work toward a free day! We have not had anyone take us up on it yet, but we haven't really tried to push it out very much. Promotion of a checkin special is key!
