I'm Matthew Tuerk, Assistant Director of the Allentown Economic Development Corporation (AEDC). AEDC is working toward establishing Lehigh Valley CoWorking and Hackerspace as part of Hive 4A, an entrepreneurial development initiative. Hive 4A is housed in the Bridgeworks Enterprise Center (BEC), a former Mack Trucks plant that has hosted AEDC's Light Manufacturing Business Incubation program since 1988. The BEC is in South Allentown, the urban center of the Lehigh Valley, a region of over 800,000 people in Eastern Pennsylvania, less than 60 miles from Philadelphia and less than 90 miles from New York City. The Lehigh Valley gave the world Bethlehem Steel, Mack Trucks, and Crayola Crayons.
AEDC has dedicated over 7,000 square feet of space in a 1923 manufacturing facility to CoWorking and Hacking. I am working with an architect to plan the CoWorking space that would feature 5 private offices ranging from 150 sq ft to 250 sq ft, a large dedicated conference room, reserved desk space for 8 full members, and shared table space for an additional 18 members. We want to provide a creative environment, with low costs to entrepreneurs ranging from start-up to established small companies. We are hoping to be up and rolling sooner rather than later, but we need people in Allentown and the Lehigh Valley to get involved. We have a planning meeting happening on January 10 at 9 a.m. in the space (905 Harrison St, Allentown, PA), but I am available to talk at any time about CoWorking in Allentown. matthew [email protected] 610.435.8890 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Coworking" group.
