Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. I really appreciate them. I guess, however, my question runs deeper -- or at least along different lines. For example, I am a member of Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce and the downtown business district. We are not allowed to talk business at Rotary meetings (I have been a member of other Rotary groups and THIS ONE is NOTHING like anything else!). The Chamber sees me as a threat because I hold meetings that they should be doing and refuse to work with me in co-running things. And the downtown merchants group doesn't think that I am a beneficial part of the "community" as I'm not retail.
We hold mastermind/referral group meetings 2x a month. I have been a member of BNI in the past but there are none here and I'm not a big follower of them, anyway. I have signs up at the local library, but I do like the idea of heading over that way every few days or so. I write articles weekly in the local Internet based news journal and periodically in the offline paper as well. I just think that there's a mindset in place here unlike what I'm used to. I ran this type of business (although it was more considered an executive suites in Washington, DC since 1990) and had a great program with people waiting to get in. Now that I'm back home however, it's an entirely different critter. I guess I need help getting into the psyche of the people here. I do have faith that it will happen; it's just I hate to sit back and "wait". I want to be an active supporter, proponent and activist. Thanks, again for the suggestions!
