This, 1000000000x. We do a monthly Show & Tell, a semi-montly Lunch & Learn, and a few other related formats. In all cases, we've had WAY better response and success when the message comes from a fellow member than from an outside "vendor" of sorts. It also keeps you from getting into the "manager" mindset <http://dangerouslyawesome.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Tummeling.key_20140415_220640_20140415_220642.jpg> (source <http://dangerouslyawesome.com/2014/04/community-management-tummling-a-tale-of-two-mindsets/>), trying to make *yourself* the provider of value and instead, making it clear that fellow-members of the community are the reason to be there. -Alex -- /ah indyhall.org coworking in philadelphia On Mon, Jun 9, 2014 at 11:20 AM, Trevor Twining <[email protected]> wrote: > I think offering exposure as a means of payment is setting yourself up for > the wrong kind of talks, even though it’s clear at the price point that > you’re not looking to make a profit off the events. > > We’re working on the same kind of series and pulling from the membership > to talk about things they’re interested in.
