Another +1 to what Tony and Angel have already said. Hives are among the most overused *specific* names, to the point where they're a category of naming all to themselves <http://riverandwolf.com/coworking-naming-trends/>. I'm pretty firmly against knowingly using a name that another space uses. But with generic stuff like "Hive," the way I see it, if someone chooses to use a generic name for their coworking space, or any business, they *have* to do so knowing that others will do it too. So today, in 2017, I'd say that choosing this is a bad idea.
With that said, in my experience the more you think about naming, the more clever you try to get, and the worse your ideas become. ;) My advice is to keep it simple, and try listening for ways that your members describe themselves. Pro-tip: try to brainstorm what this group of people would call itself if the space didn't exist. Name the club, rather than the club house. -Alex ------------------ *The #1 mistake in community building is doing it by yourself.* Better Coworkers: http://indyhall.org Weekly Coworking Tips: http://coworkingweekly.com My Audiobook: https://theindyhallway.com/ten On Wed, Mar 29, 2017 at 10:25 AM, Kevin Haggerty <[email protected]> wrote: > Solid feedback.
