Fellow coworkers… We’ve made it 8 years, despite (or because of) launching in the depths of the recession.
Apparently we’re an anomaly. BEAHIVE was founded in May 2009 in a town of 15,000 people. Only 9% of spaces today are in areas with less than 20,000 people — of those, only 20% are profitable (according to the Global Coworking Survey). I imagine it was way less back then. I owe much of our ongoing success to this group, particularly pioneers like Alex Hillman and Tony Bacigalupo, who so generously share their struggles, success and hard-earned insights with the rest of us. A lot has changed over these 8 years, so I wrote a little then and now comparison. And a hint at what’s to come.
