I hope this this the right mailing list to report CPAN mirrors problems and ask a couple of questions about the creation of the 02packages.details.txt.gz file.
1) CPAN Mirrors: lost file and directory ----------------------------------------
* What's the purpose of the file <CPAN>/.cpan/CPAN-20010917.du? (It appears to be a lost temporary file)
* What's the purpose of the directory <CPAN>/jhi/? (this directory is empty)
2) modules/02packages.details.txt.gz ------------------------------------
Right now the script that generates the file 02packages.details.txt.gz is indexing the following files (by extension):
<CPAN>/modules/02packages.details.txt (2004-04-12)
Modules = 25089
Distribution files = 7091
.tar.gz|.tgz : 6982
.zip : 77
.pm.gz : 32The question I would like to ask is the following: what's the purpose of indexing .pm.gz files? I don't believe the CPAN module is able to install them.
There also several tar.gz/tgz files that are being indexed that have neither a Makefile.PL nor a Build.PL file. Shouldn't they also be excluded?
