I don't know why David didn't mention configure_requires. Maybe he did not want to shock you with the most recent development. But the definitieve solution to your problem is to specify configure_requires in your META.yml. Of course it has the drawback that it is new and still only supported by CPAN.pm but it has been introduced precicely to fix these situations that something must be installed before the xxx.PL file is being executed. Please keep it in your books to useit some day. -- andreas
