To a degree we could already have this in CPAN::Distnameinfo. If it's not a recognised format it fails to return any components, hence why bz2 format is currently doctored to get it to work. However, I am currently patching C::D for bzip2, and will submit to Graham with any further changes we may decide are appropriate. > One place and the other tools can use it. The generation tools already use C::D to get the data parts out, I would rather use it's existing functionality than add a further dependency.
