Google has introduced a new XML based description format to wirte
sitemaps that helps search engines to index web sites:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/protocol.html
What about writing a "sitemap.gz" view for portal objects so that google
and other web crawlers could better index CPS based web sites?
I don't really know why they chose to design yet a new metadata XML
format instead of using RDF though ...
BTW: here the XML Schema definition:
http://www.google.com/schemas/sitemap/0.84/sitemap.xsd
