thanks for the replies, i guessed right, as it seems: cpsupdate did it ! then i made a new CPSDefaultsite and i could select also italian language without problems. so a previous remark i made somewhere seems obsolete.
using portal_quickinstaller all products were installed with one exception: CMFActionIcons CMF-1.5.3 The transcript says: BadRequest: The id "portal_actionicons" is invalid - it is already in use.
