Hard to say, but it's an effect of the architecture of ZCML files, which is very difficult to actually do anything about.
Will it be enough to catch the exception to avoid the error or there's something else that should be done in the case a profile is already registered?
No, you need to restart the Zope server every time you have made a product change that requires reloading.
