Yea... except that there are symmetric encryption algorithims based
on hashes.  Peter Gutmann's MDC is an example of one.

I haven't looked at it, so I have no idea if PeopleLink is using something
like MDC with MD5 or if they're being clueless at the marketing or
engineering level.
