OK. This was me who said unpopular things, as usual. Tell us if you can't know
who post what if there's no signature. You might influence me and a few others

In fact, this is not exactly what I meant. I don't think I ever was a genuine marxist.
I only considered myself to be one when I was younger. And I didn't say I liked
Hobbes, whom I never read except maybe in quotations, but Hobson, whom I
only read a little. He wrote a famous book at the very beginning of the century
called Imperalism, a study (if I remember well). He was probably inspired by
marxists but he looks more like a progressive liberal. He is said to have
inspired Lenin.
As to finance capital, I don't think I was excusing "them". I'm not too fond of
morals and stuff anyway. I am very critical of the deeds of finance capital, at
least compared to average people (as opposed to hardcore radicals and
leninists and stuff). What I tried to do was to deny that "finance capital" was a
uselful concept and to put finance back in context. I indeed don't believe that
finance is an independent entity, nor that it rules the world. Those are fantasies
of the facistic conspiracy-theorists (I agree with the "de fabel van de illegal"
group on this one). In other words, financial stuff is generally done between
consenting adults (yes, I know there are exceptions). But yes, finance is a
good and heavily symbolic target for attacks on the capitalist system (or for
reforms). Key battles have been fought over financial matters. Stopping there
won't lead us very far however.
I'm used to annoy and puzzle left-leaning individuals of all kinds when I talk
about economics. No news. To show you how deeply lost I am, imagine that I
read Henwood's Wall Street from the first page to the last.
