The School of the Americas, which, by an act of Congress, has had its official name
changed to something less familiar (Center for inter-American military cooperation, or
something like that) is located in Fort Benning, Georgia. There is a massive annual
nonviolent demonstration there, the weekend before Thanksgiving, led by the School of
the Americas Watch, headed by Father Roy Bourgeois (a Maryknoll), who has spent
considerable time in jail for his efforts.
