This is another and quite well-known example of a perpetual motion machine.
It was the same thing in the first oil-shock in 1973: suddenly all kinds of
weird inventors appeared with their patents-applied-for. What it shows is
subliminal mass desperation (the font of gullibility). Actually, it's not us
who are the millenarians, the true chiliasts are those who are in denial.
Looking for perpetual motion machiens is one form of denial. Saying a la
Greg Nowell or Morry Adelman 'oil is a renewable energy source' or a la Doug
Henwood 'there's plenty of oil', without seriously investigating the
question, is another.
