And, I was told this afternoon by a linguistics professor in yugoslavia whom I spoke to, the media all sounds the same. He likes Kostunica, but he says the stuff yesterday was a coup engineered in Washington and Bonn. He says, in the past, he could listen to the government media (he teased me "which sounds like you guys") and he had also the opposition, Heinz 57 varieties (he spent time in US and knows all the ads). He says and now, it is all like the US media. One line fits all. That of course is what they wish to do to the culture as well. As Milosevich said, the national heroes will get to be the brand names for cosmetics and detergents. It has already happened in Bulgaria and the Czech republic. I am not a nationalist, my friends. Though at the moment loaded with 3 excellent vodka and tonics, and I NEVER get to drink or have any fun, so I am loaded, and therefore NOT responsible for my words, I wish to say: I AM AN INTERNATIONALIST. BUT I treasure the diversity of this world and I LOATHE those who would turn it into the stupidest sameness manufactured in the dull brains of US marketeers. That ALONE is worth fighting over, let alone the devastation of people's lives.
