Pat attacked me offlist for posting what he called "geographical determinist crap",
ie, Joel Mokyr's review of Jared Diamond's 'Guns Germas and Steel'. Pat is finishing
a book and says he hasn't time right now to dole out the summary justice I am
evidently entitled to. I planned to post more on David Harvey, just to tweak Pat's
nose some more, but have decided to belay that until he has time to return to the
fray. Meantime, he offers this link for those who (he says) "may be interested in
