The renaming of giant bats to megabats doesn't seem to be very popular among
players. This may be because I'm not a native speaker, but to my french
ears, megabat does sound quite silly. After looking it up, I guess it either
sound silly or technical. Do native speakers really know and use the term
megabat to talk about this kind of bat?
While I have no problem with having funny names and joke monsters, I don't
think they fit on D:1. New players might get the wrong impression about what
kind of game crawl really is. I suggest we just name them bats. Being almost
harmless and annoying, they don't really deserve being "giant".
