I do care quite a bit about this name, and I am in no way dissatisfied
with it. I put a considerable amount of effort into defending my
original decision to both members of the development team and members
of the community. I had assumed that, based on the fact that I had
neither received negative feedback nor seen any conversation
particularly about the change recently, that it had been accepted and
that most people were happy with it.

However, I don't want to derail a perfectly good change with something
relatively unrelated: asides all of that, I think the rationale for
the change is a good one, I'm probably just more surprised than
anything. I am myself guilty of making sudden changes without
consultation, and have no doubt surprised or even offended some
people, so it would be wrong of me to point fingers.

On the subject of bats, though: if we're going to have a separate
megabat monster (whether vault-defined or source-defined), I think it
would be quite good if this one was more powerful than general bats.
Perhaps I just want megabats to be megaspecial? ;)
