Dear Martin, Maria, and George,

As part of the ECHOES project that Maria Theodoridou will be presenting in Bern, we're going to create an instance (or federation of instances) of the OntoPortal <https://ontoportal.org/about/>application, which we'll call *CHportal* for the time being. Examples of instances of Ontoportal are BioPortal <https://bioportal.bioontology.org/> or AgroPortal <https://agroportal.lirmm.fr/>. Besides being catalogs of ontologies and thesauri, you can see by visiting these instances that they offer a range of valuable services.

As far as cultural heritage is concerned, it's obvious that the CIDOC CRM ecosystem, which is at the heart of ECHOES, will have its place in CHportal. This would in no way replace its official site and the services it already offers, just as there are ontologies in AgroPortal or BioPortal that have their own site managed by their community (e.g. Agrovoc).

CHportal would just complement the CIDOC CRM site, and in return, welcoming CIDOC CRM among the ontologies dedicated to cultural heritage is fundamental for CHportal.

The present message is therefore intended to complement Maria's presentation of ECHOES and the HDT ontology, as a call for cooperation between ECHOES and SIG CRM members who might be interested in the set up of CHportal.

I'd like to know what you think about it.

Best,

Beatrice

Dear all,

I am pleased to share with you a working document to support our very first topic of the upcoming SIG, issue 682:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-ouS9vZDTwSzxSKaQKoWZ4Qo6tPbJ-buNRgMm8cy6_s/edit?tab=t.0

This document will lead you to several other documents which are themselves subject of discussion and potential approval.

Here is the record of the issue from the site:

https://cidoc-crm.org/Issue/ID-682-list-externally-maintained-crm-compatible-extensions-on-new-section-of-crm-site

This issue was discussed at the previous SIG and received a warm reception with, at the same time, the SIG asking for various clarifications and additional work to be done.

I want to thank all the members of the team that joined in the vigorous conversations and discussions shaping and refining the proposal and building up the various necessary supporting documents and procedures, especially Martin for putting a big effort into redacting the texts and clarifying the intended role of extensions as part of the overall plan and method of the CRM ontology.

I think we have arrived in a good place after several constructive reviews and have a series of decidable sub issues that will allow us to  move this important initiative forward.

Look forward to seeing you in Bern!

Best,

George
