Sorry, a little late to this game, but another small thing. While David mentioned the use of packed jars, please keep the unpacked jars around too. We have found that the Java 7 pack/un-packer has changed (compared to previous versions), and we are having trouble processing pack.gz files on Java 7 Runtimes. If the un-packed jars are still around, p2 can fall back to these.
