The first thing that comes to mind is that you had an alignment done, and 
they took out the toe-out that existed..... that would make your steering 
feel lighter.

In what way were your tires worn before you had them replaced? If the inside 
of the tread was worn signifigantly, then you definently had more toe-out 
than is good for tire life, but not so much that your car was handling 
weird.
