As I begin work on rebuilding the nose of my 91 HF, I'm also pondering the long term goal of bringing it up to SI specs. Trying to ID all the differences is somewhat bewildering.
I know SI's had a larger D16A6 engine, a different cat converter/exhaust layout, rear disk brakes, different front seats, different door panels, the option of a moonroof, rear wiper, dash clock, tilt wheel, luggage compartment cover (and slightly different panels in the hatch to accomodate this), etc. I also know the SI had larger alloy wheels. I've also been told the front bumper is different in some respect (what I'm not sure...the guy at the local body shop though said they were way expensive to replace). Most of this is going to have to wait until further down the line owing to finances. My idea though is to attempt starting this upgrade as early on as possible. Since I'm rebuilding the nose (ie, right fender, radiator, AC condensor, radiator support, bumper, right headlight, right corner light, resonator [I wish I had my list, but it's in the car at my friend's house], etc), it would seem to make sense to try and add any specific SI parts at this time, so long as they would work on a stock HF? For example, - I've heard the SI bumper is different. Is it or isn't it? - Will a SI radiator work with the HF's D15 engine? - Will an SI radiator work with a HF engine as is? Most of the rest of the parts I assume are pretty stock in this area of the car. Any help I could get in ID'ing the differences would be appreciated. Derek Wakefield [EMAIL PROTECTED]
