Craig -
I've owned two Datsun's in my life, a 1971 Datsun 510 Sedan
and a 1972 240Z. The 510 was sold for a 1967 BMW '02 and the 240Z was sold
for a 1969 Porsche 914/4. Had a lot of fun with both Datsun's but I
hated the Hitachi carbs. They worked very well but I had a hard time with
the floats. I took the easy way out and went Weber. :^)
Anyhoo... Welcome to the CRX world. As you are
probably aware by now, the CRX is a very fun car to drive with very excellent
power-to-weight ratio. And on top of it all, they're one of the easiest
cars to work on (next to the many air-cooled VW's I owned in the past),
IMHO.
On this list, you'll find a lot of experienced owners.
I'm still learning a lot from them (I've ownly been a CRX owner since 1998) and
about the car in general.
The stock EFI that Honda uses works very well which is why
many owners do not bother to change it unless they have done an engine swap
where you basically need to swap out the ECU. In fact, many of my CRX and
Civic friend's just replace their fuel rails and then followed it up with
replacing their stock fuel pressure regulator with an adjustable
one.
Have you done any engine performance modifications (something
other than the typical-basic air intake, exhaust, exhaust headers and cam
sprocket) or perhaps already did the engine swap? If you still have
the stock engine but installed a different cam or even an adjustable cam
sprocket, I suppose I could see the need to look into a programmable EFI system
(might even help the car pass emissions if you live in a state that enforces
it).
Just my thoughts...
