That doesn't surprise me. Many kits don't come with instructions
(including the VIS kit that I have) and the ones that do are usually vague
at best. However, in just about all coil over kits where it needs to be
assembled (many of the real high-performance, race application, kits come
pre-assembled and ready to bolt in).

The Skunk2 kit uses rubber o-rings as well. How this is suppose to work is
that you locate the o-ring that provides a very snug fit for the
sleeve. In other words, it should take some resistance to slide the sleeve
over the shock body. It should only require one or two rings per
shock. Because the kit is probably a "universal" kit (taking into account
for the various diameters of shocks that are available) you should not need
to use all of the o-rings.

When I did the Skunk2 kit on my brother's Civic, we ended up using two
o-rings per shock and we had about 20 or so extra rings of different sizes
left over (many of which I still have).

My advice is to remove all of the o-rings you used on the rear and then
divide them up evenly for all four shocks.

All the o-ring does is to help center the sleeve and to keep it from
rattling. The VIS kit that I have uses 8 set screws per sleeve which makes
it a real PITA to line up. The weight of the car will hold the sleeve down.
