Something like this happened on the second generation RX-7 list. they had
to move to a new server. What the person does is set up their OWN mailing
list, on their server (notice the .ch, its a non U.S. domain.) Then they
send ONE spam, and set their list to forward EVERYTHING to the legit list
(the rex list in our case) Then, things start to loop. You will start to
see every complaint loop over and over. Eventually you will start getting
multiple copies of each complaint and spam, until after a couple weeks the
incoming traffic just overloads everything. Sorry, but if thats what
happening, there is no real way to stop it, as all the emails are coming
from different addresses. We just changed the mailing list address. :)
