Subject: CRX: Suicide Doors

Jennifer -

In my last email to you, I had mentioned that I thought suicide doors on
a
CRX might be much cooler than Lamborghini style doors. I also thought
it
was odd that I hadn't seen this done to a CRX. I figured that it was
not
as common because perhaps the pillar might not be strong enough to hold
the
door or that there wasn't sufficient mounting area (or both).

In any event, I came across this pic where it shows a 1988 CRX with a
suicide door:

Now that I've seen it can be done, I am now going to invest some time in

seeing how easy or hard this will be. I've done this before on a VW Bug

and though it was more or less straight forward, it still took
above-average effort and skill to do it just right (part of the reason
is
because the stock VW Bug door has it's hinges exposed on the outside and
if
you want it to be clean, you have to place the hinge on the inside).

If I ever do it, I will be sure to let you know.

As cool as Lamborghini doors would look on your CRX, suicide doors (I
feel)
would be cooler. :^)
