I agree with Ricky- 6 years would be my benchmark unless you put LOTS of
miles on the car. Down here in Florida, we have plenty of heat-related
aging that affects all the rubber parts, including the timing belt so
I'm used to replacing these things often. The flip-side is we have
considerably less rain and no salt on the roads so our cars age very
slowly.

Put it this way, drop the approx. $250 into a new installed timing belt
and sleep easier knowing baby will last until the next decade. Once the
'80s thing hits the pop culture, our cars are going to be worth a
fortune!

Subject: CRX: Timing Belt

In general, should you replace your timing belt based
on mileage or years?

Or in other words, can I go 8 years without replacing
the belt as long as I keep the accumulated mileage below 50K?

What do you think?

Thanks in advance,

Tom
