For anyone who read my last post about seats and was wondering how it
turned out, here it is. They work! The 2002 Celica seats are very nice,
and much more comfortable, and sporty than the Stock CRX Si seats (or
the DX seats I also have).
The backs are quite a bit taller, and only clear the roof by 2 inches or
so, but that just means the headrest are going to do their job. To get
them to fit, I had to do some surgery. I cut off about 4" of steel from
the bottom of the seat (basically, the brackets and sliders, and then
about an inch above that) with the handy-dandy Makita Sawzall and a
blade that is intended for use cutting cars open after a major crash.
After that, it was a pretty simple matter of using some thick steel
angle and bar stock to put two cross members between the reamining seat
structure, then bolting the stock 88Si sliders on.

I'm pleased with the final results, they look great, and are
comfortable. I sit about half an inch higher than I do in the Honda
seats, but that could be partly because the foam in my old seats had
pretty much worn out. They have more support than the old ones, and I'm
sure will hold me in place well in the corners, whenever Winter ends and
I get to pull the car out. I still wish that I didn't have a sunroof, so
I had more head clearance (I'm 6'1"), but I wished the same thing with
the old seats.

Best part? They were only $250, and they are basically brand new, I only
had to vacuum the glass left over in them from when the previous owner
totalled his car. I just had to keep checking eBay, and it finally came
up.
