I've decided that it's time to add a new toy to my tool collection. I need a welder. I just don't know what kind I need. I would want to be able to weld steel, and possibly aluminum, up to half an inch thick. It seems like a handy thing to be able to do, since I keep paying shops money to do it for me. So the question is, what do I need? I've seen Arc welders, and Mig welders. I'd be using it to do work on my car, and a lot of other things. I have someone who is experienced to teach me how to use it, so that's not a concern.
