I drove with 14" for a long time, and then i shifted to 15". That is a very
comfortable size to drive with, and it looks pretty well too! ;0)

I tried some 17", but they looked like s*** ont it :(

17s, IMHO (and many others) is right at the borderline of looking out of proportion for the CRX which is why 16s are generally accepted as the largest that doesn't look out of place.  I've seen CRX's with 18s and they look like wagon wheels to me...  :^P

I have pics of my car with the 14 inch Del Sol rims and then my current 16 inch rims.  Both look right at home (even the 14s with the kit) on the CRX.  In fact, some people can't even tell that they are 16s.  :^)  People look at them and they think they're 15s...

The reason for not going with 15s was that they looked too much like 14s.  I wanted my wheels to make a statement but not something that would take away from the overall look of the car (i.e. look out of proportion).  In other words, I wanted them to stand out but not be the main focal point.

Basically I went with 16s for looks.... plain and simple... The lower profile tires that I am running on there does add some additional cornering performance but I give up some of my acceleration due to the larger wheels.  MPG doesn't seem to be effected that much (if any).

With our Accord (my next project car), we'll be going from 15s to 17s.  Maybe 18s since the car is rather long and large but at least 17s for sure.  And this will be mostly for looks.  Pics of this project will be online soon...
