Okay, okay, I'll stop whining here and shell out a few bucks for a
decent ignition!  I'm confused why MSD doesn't carry a matching rotor
with the kit- I've been using Honda stock so I guess that's okay.  Now
about wires- MSD is the best, right?  Do NGK's wires compare or should I
stop wasting time?

George,
Man, you should know that distributor caps and rotors are typical
maintenance items.  At $15 a pop, that doesn't hurt to replace too
often. 
I can feel your pain with the $40, but guess the ol' saying holds true.
"You gotta pay to play."  I tried to clean up my setup, and it held for
a couple of days, and then started acting up again.  You just have to
replace it.  No if ands or buts about it.
