Good question George. I've been looking at this myself, I just have some cheap wires from AutoZone that I'm using with a MSD 6A system and MSD Blaster 2 coil. I could probably do better with something a little bigger than the 7 mm wires I have now. Personally, I would think that the MagneCore or MSD 8.5 mm wires would be the best for use with a MSD system. You can't get much bigger than 8.5 mm. Well....I guess there's 10 & 11 mm, which seem like way overkill since 8.5 mm is probably already overkill to begin with. 8.5 mm should transfer as much energy as a high output coil can throw out. I'm not sure if the performance really justifies the price, but they sure look kewl. :-) I would think then that the NGK 8 mm wires would be fine to use too. Just my personal gut feel. I think folks have a tendency to always think bigger is better....period. I have a WRX with a piggyback ECU. This setup is know to have problems with the ground to the engine block. I added a couple extra 4 gauge grounds when I installed my stereo (something that is often overlooked by stereo installers) and have never had a problem. Some people install $150 grounding kits that run 8 to 10 ground wires all over their engine compartment. Now this IS way overkill, looks stupid IMHO, and is a waste of money. BUT I'll tell you one thing, those guys who go overboard like this will NEVER have a problem with engine ground! So, hey more power to them. My gut feel is that 8 or 8.5 mm will be just fine for a MSD system. If you want more, hey go for it, more "power" to ya. I'm guessing though that the Nology wires wouldn't really work with a MSD system. I'd like to hear any feedback on this one. The Nology Hotwires (or whatever they call them) work by running a capacitor in-line with the spark plug wire - similar to putting a stiffening cap on a sub amp in a stereo install. I could see how this would help with a single discharge, standard ignition system. However, the MSD sends out lots of sparks to make sure that somewhere in there it starts the combustion process. I'm not sure what kind of threshold the Nology wires have to reach and what the cap's recovery time is, but I would think that the $150 Nology wires either wouldn't work well with the MSD system or at least wouldn't offer any substantial improvement over standard wires.
