OK, looks like GCC as well. According to the GCC docs at https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Link-Options.html (description of '-llibrary'), the library names should even be specified after the objects referring to them. So I fixed tests/Makefile, please see upstream commit da73010.
