A few well placed bounties got the problems solved. Folks come out like cockroaches for a 100 or 250 point bounty. I could not get ARM enabled, though. There's another question on it at https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45499671/set-windowssdkdesktoparmsupport-to-enable-arm-in-local-project-file.
