The HelpTestVBO instructions explicitly instruct to remove the gldrivers.xml "novbo" invocations. If you check the verbose log, teh test does hit - however, since he (rightly so) disabled novbo in the driver db, VBO became enabled (with the nice result that it's indeed faster). -f.r.
