This sounds like a lot of fun, though hard for us in the Americas or Australia
to get there :( Does there happen to be any other conference of this type
(e.g. Blender) happening at the same time? If there is another conference
anywhere nearby
during the summer, can we schedule the CS conference to be right before or
after?

You could have audio and video streams, with an IRC client on a projector for
people to talk back.

Or, you should be able to plug the conf. microphone into Gizmo
(http://www.gizmoproject.com/)
which is free if you stay within the Gizmo system, and can do a conference
call if the other participants are also using Gizmo. (don't know what the limit
is)
Gizmo supports SIP I think to interconnect with Skype etc. but only if you
subscribe
to their pay service. It runs under Linux, Windows and OSX.

(If you want to talk by the way, email or IM me!)
